MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Hagerstown Elementary School is to provide all students with a nurturing, academically challenging and intellectually engaging learning environment, which advances the skills necessary for creating life-long learners and responsible, productive citizens.
Guiding Principles
1. All students are unique individuals who are capable of
learning.
2. The school is learner-centered and is supported by parents, staff, and
the community.
3. The school will provide for a safe, caring, non-threatening learning
environment.
4. The school will use the Indiana State Standards as a basis for assessment
and accountability, with defined benchmarks that surpass these minimums.
5. Decisions will be based upon what is best for students.
6. Education is a life-long process, which emphasizes communication,
cooperation, creativity, problem solving, and complex thinking skills.
7. The education process will support the development of responsible
citizens.
8. Each staff member is committed to continuous improvement through professional
development.
9. Teachers have the responsibility to create an intellectually reflective,
engaging classroom.
10. Each staff member can make a positive difference in the teaching
and learning
environment
